Luke Stones / Spatial Flatness #4
Here is the final section of my statement.
This particular body of work involves many shades of the colour blue. The different tones of blue allow maximum spatial depth within the structures.
By treating the field of blue’s a layer at a time and while they are wet I am able to create a translucent velvet curtain that allows the viewer to feel like they could be transported through the structure. At the same time the lighter colours such as the ivories and the rustic oranges within the structures burn back from underneath the surface and present the viewer with a flat plane. Making the cold and warm palettes interact with each other emphasising the two conflicting feelings brought out in the viewer.
